Awesome Service and Support

Living in the US, I was very nervous about receiving my tickets in time for our departure to the event in Austin. Not only was it noted to rush my tickets to me immediately upon receipt at BF1, but they then emailed me right at shipment in order to track them. Fabulous service and awesome coordination.

Great circuit. Superb weekend

1st time to CoTA and it exceeded my expectations. We opted to go for General Admission tickets having being dissuaded from Turn 1 (our preferred viewing location ) grandstand seats by the cost. Great decision! We bought folding chairs in Austin ($6 each) to save transporting from UK and watched from the extensive grass banking near the pit lane exit on both Saturday and Sunday. This afforded great views of the pit straight, all moves into the 1st corner (of which there were many) as well as sufficient elevation to see across the circuit to corners 12, 15 and 16. We drove from downtown Austin each day ( 25 mins on quiet roads ) arriving at 12:30 on Saturday for FP3 and 9:00 on race day. We also saved time and money by using small private car parks adjacent to the circuit rather than the official car parks. We used Denny and Carmen's which backed onto the official Lot T at the circuit. However as a small private site we got out in 30 seconds rather than the 25 - 30 mins I would estimate the official car parking would take judging by the length of the queue we walked past on our way out. The only downside, which prevents a 5 star review was the lack of support races. 1 Formula 4 race on Saturday ( where more laps were done behind the safety car such was the quality of driving ) a feat they managed to repeat in the follow up on Sunday and 1 Formula 3 race with an entry of 5 cars! That however did not detract from a great weekend and while disappointing that Lewis did not clinch the title, delighted by the compromise of seeing Kimi win again. Austin is also a great city. Lots of cool bars and great restaurants and they really embrace the G P weekend. Overall a fantastic time and one that I will hopefully repeat in the future.

COTA, The Good and the Bad.

The Good: First time attending the US Grand Prix. We had great views with General Admission Tickets (and $10 Walmart folding chairs) from Turn 11 for Saturday and Turn 1 for the Race. Their is really no need to buy bleacher or grandstand seats at this track as there are plenty of elevated GA areas with good views. The Bruno Mars and Britney Spears concerts were also really good and some other local bands that played throughout the day. Food Choices were good but some long lines as expected. They had plenty of beer vendors going around selling beer so that was good. The Bad: Parking was difficult because of the rain that week. None of the parking is paved so the parking lots were like WW1 battlefields. On Saturday we had to park at a Park and Ride despite paying for on track parking lot T. The park and ride shuttle was good though with plenty of school buses. Security at the event was the worst. We read that you can only take in one bottle of water but they did not check bags thoroughly so you could take in anything in a bag buried under a rain poncho. Also the metal detector went off for just about everybody who went through it but nobody was ever patted down. I set it off both days but was never checked. Then they had security guards saying the mobile rest rooms were closed on Sunday Night while the Britney Spears concert was still going on. Although you could get past security to use the rest rooms while they were distracted stopping others. Security also tried to stop us leaving at an exit for the shuttle saying it was only an employee entrance. Security staff were clearly minimum wager temps hired from an agency for the event. The internal shuttle also had challenges. The buses were full and would not stop unless they had staff at the stop to count people getting on. But they did not have staff at every stop. There is only a total of 6 stops so should not have been difficult to organize. The shuttle also got stuck in traffic on Saturday on the way to the concert and had to let everyone off to walk. To sum up, the mud, security stupidity and internal shuttle bus hick ups did not prevent us from having a really great time at COTA!

Austin F1GP 2018

Weather note the greatest on Friday which made muddy car park and viewing areas but the car parking was well organized considering the problems. Overall a great weekend. One minor comment is that the security staff are extremely inconsistent ie they class sweets (candy) as food then and take from you then there is nowhere trackside to buy more ....this really is mental!!! Also only 2 support formula and one of those had 6 cars.....really not acceptable for a F1 race weekend and no it does not compensate by watching the fortunate few play around on the track in Mercedes and McLaren road cars....

Awesome F1 Experience

This was my first F1 experience and I had a blast. The race was exciting and being there made it that much more special.

Great spectacle

Racing and concert performances were great - continue with that effort. A major disappoinment again this year was crowd management into the concert areas. Workers did a poor job of managing crowd flow leading to the concert area and then people were treated like cattle - penned into a tight space and forced to stand in line (for no apparent reason) before being allowed into the concert area.

Cota was very disorganised this year!

From the bus organisation in Downtown Austin to the entry of the track it was a complete shambles. There was a que a half mile long each side of the entry. The staff were untrained, slow,a bit rude and honestly in the bloody way with their electronic devices. My their year here and this was a complete shambles. Cota also needs to put in solid foundations around food truck and stands.People had to eat on park benches that sat in pure muck.Toilets were just ok some were left in 12 inches of muck also and people destroyed footwear going to them. Not Cotas finest year!

FAN.TASTIC

Brilliantly organised from start to finish. With one exception. The Rickshaw riders were an absolute menace. We narrowly avoided being hit by them on numerous occasions and they were very rude, expecting walkers to make way for them. Please ban them or regulate them.

Great race and entertainment was amazing

JT and Stevie Wonder wer amazing, golf crush was so much fun! Would be good to have more information about the pit lane walk on the Thursday at future races. Great track and well worth a ride to the top of the tower?

Great Experience

Had an amazing weekend at COTA Austin Granprix, great hospitality Fantastic track, had a great experience and enjoyed both concerts. Only issue was we pre-booked Parking in parking lot Q, we paid $80 for the Saturday and Sunday which included shuttle service Parked up on the Saturday and taken straight to the track, after the concert went to get the shuttle back and had to queue for 2.5 hours. We joined the queue at 9.30ish and it was midnight before we left the track. After a long day and already been queuing and standing for 3 hours waiting for JT concert to start this was horrendous. The queue hardly moved, one bus would arrive then nothing for ages. No where to get water or toilet facilities without loosing our place in the queue and going back into the track. People were cutting in line, causing arguments. I felt sorry for the children and older people. Then at the end 11.45ish 8 buses arrived together It spoilt our day, we didn’t get back to out Hotel till 1am. Sunday we didn’t return to Lot Q even though had paid for it. Paid a local farmer $40 parked in his field walking distance to the track and made our way back to our hotel in 45 minutes. Wish we had known and done the same on the Saturday But as we had travelled from Great Britain for the F1 we thought pre-booking our parking on the F1 website was the best option.

Exceptional experience I hope to repeat

Despite the threat of dreadful weather, and I did come prepared, there was no serious impact to the show. The addition of the master series and F4 made it hard to decide where to spend my time between the track and fan related shows/driver engagement; a good problem to have for sure. This may be a once in a lifetime weekend for me and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend this for racing fans.

Great track, great event!

My only two negatives from the weekend are the following: 1. Some of the vendor's drinks were really weak, and when you are paying $12 to $15 a drink it was a little disappointing. Maybe a vendor review section on the APP would keep them honest. 2. More detailed breakdown on the concert timing, it was listed at 7:00 but that was the opener, Justin Timberlake didn't take the stage until 9:00. There were many people who left shortly after 9 that wouldn't have stayed until then if they had known he wasnt getting on until 9:00. Would have been less crowded and more enjoyable for those who wanted to see the concert.

Def worth at least one visit to watch F1 here

COTA for the Austin GP is definitely worth the long flight from U.K. to visit at least once. Shuttle buses from town $20 round trip each day & really efficient & best way to travel to & from the circuit. Circuit itself is great ... you can walk around the entire track, lots to see & do particularly loved the Salon where I got my hair plaited, driver autograph session, F1 experiences, live music everyday plus the big gigs post qualifying & race & overall great atmosphere. One area for improvement .... the food!!! It’s not great & choice is fairly limited if you want something not meat or fried you’ll struggle!

2nd visit to USA gp

Based on my previous visit I just had a general entry ticket as there are plenty of spaces to sit if you are prepared to take in a portable seat, even on the popular turn 1 hill area. I also didn't bother with the official parking as all along the road by the main grandstand there are areas offering parking at between 20-40 dollars/day, much cheaper and nearer than the official parking lots.

3 days at the US GP!

An excellent experience spread over a three day period. Bought a general entry ticket for all three days and supplemented it with a seat in the stand for the Sunday. Access to the circuit from Austin was great, used the shuttle bus from the conference centre (pre weekend offer of $15 each way a bargain) with a short 15 minute walk to the circuit. Food and drink very expensive on site (only 1 bottle of water allowed in) so have a good breakfast before you go! Plenty of vantage points to watch from around the circuit so if you don't mind sitting on grass it's fine. Seat cushions from the concession stands a worthy investment!

General admission weekend

Great weekend. Good view at turn 9 got there early to get a spot and there was a big screen. Turn one was very busy and not the best view. Turn 4 was also a good spot to watch the race.

Great Weekend

This was a dream come true. Great weekend. Will be back next year. The ONLY negative things I can think of is that I am a Ferrari fan and we did not book a parking spot. Next year..
