My first GP

It was a fantastic experience. I didn't take advantage of many of the offerings because I was 100% concerned with the race. The clothes outlet Is a joke. Most of the offerings are effectively expired and of things that don't exist any longer. A major improvement would come in the form of an app that can allow us to listen to official commentary at the race.

COTA Austin F1 turn 12

What a great race weekend. Turn 12 lower seats are amazing. Having been to lots of F1 races around the World these seats have to be one of the best I’ve ever had. All the race action happened at either turn 12 or 13 to 16 which can all be seen from these seats. Access to large screen TV and great PA system made the event even more enjoyable. Shuttle coach Service to downtown Austin is amazing only 30 mins from track to Austin Centre. Can’t wait to be back again soon.

COTA Review - Fantastic Weekend

Our seats and view of the track and race were excellent. The shuttle bus operation from Toney Burger Center to the drop off point, and back, on Saturday and Sunday was excellent - one of the best organized and run operations I've ever seen. The facility itself was very nice - a special shout out to the porta-potties (hundreds of them), which were (amazingly) very well maintained and clean the whole three days, to the very end. There was a lot of walking, but, for the most part, it was not too onerous. The only negative thing about the facility was the lack of information/communication as to: (1) how to get a taxi or "Uber-type" ride FROM the track on Friday afternoon (we were dropped off at a different place that morning); and (2) how to get to the General Admission entry to the grassy hill for the Taylor Swift concert. Both ended up involving A LOT of walking, and NO ONE (e.g., security people and other staff) seemed to know what was going on. Turned out many of them did not work directly for COTA, and no one had bothered to tell them what was going on. It all turned out okay in the end, but it was quite frustrating in the meantime. Bottom line - we had a wonderful time, and I got A LOT of steps on my FitBit - and Lewis won! YEA!

I think it may have rained! But who cares, Lewis Won his 3rd title!

Where to start, it was wet! I can appreciate that this was a freak storm from the mexican hurricane, but despite knowing the forecast I was very disappointed in the track. COTA had not prepared at all for the weather, despite days notice that it was going to happen, access to Turn 12 was a complete mudbath, gravel should have been put down. All the portaloo's were flooded and the colleagues running the food stalls were beyond rude and were in complete chaos. They had no direction making it almost impossible to be served any hot food when freezing cold and wet. I was also appaulled that the track would not allow us entry to P3...despite the cars running and had paid for a 3 day ticket. Being Britsh, I was not put off from the rain so expected to be able to see P3 only to be turned away from the track. Which they then opened an hour later for Qually! Utter waste of another trip and $50 in taxis! Not everyone has wifi access, or on Twitter to check for updates. Given this is a new track, purpose built, it should be in better conditions to cope in rain. Leaving the track after the race was an utter nightmare, despite thousands trekking to the Elton John concert you would expect it to be quicker getting the bus...it wasnt. We waited 1 hour 45 mins, they were very slow getting people onto the buses all lined up and queues were again chaotic, 2 queues merging into 1, and absolutley no staff directing people. And this was in the dry! (go to the loo before entering the queue!) Tips getting to the track....we got a taxi, staying on the I-35, for $50. Or you can catch the bus from downtown convention centre for $25 each...but there was 2 of us, and would have to pay $20 to downtown...a taxi was cheaper, and we got the bus back all 3 days, to which no one asked us for a ticket! The race however, was the best I have been too! The race was action packed and an amazing result for a Lewis Hamilton fan. And despite the victory and amazing race, the atmosphere was poor. The worst I had ever been to. COTA did a good job trying to build atmosphere up to the race, marketing material throughout Austin, and on social media, but after the first rain on Friday there was nothing. The fanfest is worth a visit on rainey street, got to see Massa, Bottas, Ricciardo, Hulkenburg do a Q&A which was a great night, but after that it was a washout!
